Project Summary

A full-scale design project to launch the Nüdel Pod, the latest product from Nüdel, created by Marcus Veerman, Founder, CEO, and Product Designer at Playground Ideas.

The Nüdel Pod is a product for children in the home that transforms them from a toy user to a toy maker. The Nüdel Pod can be constructed in endless way to make anything imaginable.

The goal was to raise $50,000 through a Kickstarter campaign to start production of the product and increase brand awareness globally. Creating a pre-launch campaign to raise interest before the Kickstarter using LaunchBoom.

1/ Pre-launch

LaunchBoom is a crowdfunding agency that helps you successfully launch, market, and manage ideas on Kickstarter.

I worked directly with the team at LaunchBoom setting up the funnel page, A/B testing and validating, building an audience and preparing the Kickstarter page for launch.

UGC Video

We created a UGC video to drive traffic to the funnel page by advertising primarily on Facebook to hit the key target audience. Secondary advertising also targeted audiences on Google and Instagram. The video was shot in one sequence to create a sense of honesty (no tricks), we added digital animation into the video to show the abundance of what the product can do in such a short time.

Pre-launch Results

The pre-launch campaign ran for three months and the funnel prompted users to sign up and pay a small reservation fee to be a VIP, and access discounts for the product when launched on Kickstarter.

2/ Kickstarter Campaign

Kickstarter is a crowdfunding platform where creators can launch projects to raise funds directly from backers, offering rewards in return for their support.

Following direction from the LaunchBoom platform I worked through every step to create the entire Kickstarter campaign page and reward offerings for the Nüdel Pod.

Kickstarter Video

Video is king of content and a Kickstarter video shows your backers how they can use your product and how it can be a benefit to them. Together with Marcus we brainstormed ideas, created the script planned the filming location in the Nüdel office and the rest was on me. I was the videographer, designed and created the assets and graphics within and edited the entire video from start to finish.

Was it successful? There was 1,971 completed plays of the video over the 31 days of the campaign. An average of 63 Plays a day.

Recognition

Within the first week of our campaign we were recognised by Kickstarter as a stand out project and featured as a Project We Love.


Results

We went from prototype to success in under 90 minutes. The campaign ran for 31 Days and was fully funded in under 90 minutes (88min to be exact) from the time it went live.
